PEOPLE PORTRAIT GALLERY

I absolutely love drawing people portraits and bringing the page to life.  It is a chance to capture a moment, a pose, an expression that can then be kept forever.

The way I approach each drawing is to sketch out the basic outline, then build up the many layers of colours and depth. I love building up the skin tone colours and blending together to create the facial characteristics and shadows.  Detail is then added to closely match any clothing or jewellery etc. I always like to finish my colour portrait pictures with a background as I prefer this to being able to see plain paper.

Included in this gallery are some of my black and white portraits.  These are generally drawn on black paper using either white pencil or a white pastel pencil.
