'Perspective' was accepted into the Final 50 and exhibited at the 2024 The British Art Prize
At the Rijksmuseum, whilst appreciating many amazing paintings, Ray noticed how other people look at art. Some vie for centre position then immerse themselves for a period of time, whilst others walk up quickly, ponder for a few seconds, then take a digital photograph and move on.
Ray himself took various photographs of Vermeer's 'The Milkmaid', but the images he liked most were those that show the audience involved with the masterpiece.
This was the inspiration for this painting. By adjusting the angle, it enhanced the mystique and reflects how we position ourselves, and how we gain our own perspective.
